LOVE it
I love this screen! I use it for my work laptop. I wfh a lot, but I don’t want to add another screen to my set up at home because when my work day is over, I put all my work tools away out of sight. I now have an extra screen for my work laptop that us a breeze to set up as it’s plug & play. There are 3 cables included to choose from when connecting to your laptop, and you just clip the extension around your existing screen. The Maxscreen has speakers if you want to use it’s volume, and you can adjust it’s visual qualities easily.

FHD impressive quality
The media could not be loaded.
The screen came with a gray protective case and all the cables required to install in either an HDMI or a type C interface.Installation was straightforward and the screen was fairly stable with a strong grip on my laptop.Image quality is comparable to the built-in screen, 1080p at 60hz,no dead pixels or color issues.The only issue that I have with this monitor is sound quality, the internal speaker sounds a bit cheap and won’t be good for meetings or music, it’s not a huge issue as you can easily switch the laptop’s internal speaker even with the screen installed, I attached a short video showing the difference in sound quality. Anyway this issue is not enough to drop a full star from my rating. And my review remains overwhelmingly positive.

Very useful
Attached it to my Lenovo laptop without any issues. Had to use external power snd usb to HDMI cable since my laptop doesn’t have a video capable usb type c port.Screen quality is better than the laptop’s one: better colors and better viewing angle.

Review for: “Maxfree S1 Portable Monitor for Laptop, 14 Inch FHD 1080P IPS Laptop Screen Extender with Built-in Stand and Speakers, HDMI/Type-C Plug and Play Display for 13″-17” Laptops (Mac, Wins, Android)”Inside the box was a nice leather-like case with the monitor and screen extender inside, 3 cables, and 2 User guides. The case has a pouch in the front with Velcro to store the cables. The top of the case is open but it is a snug fit so the monitor should not fall out. There are 3 cables included: USB-C to USB-A, USB-C to USB-C , and USB-C to HDMI. There was a slight smell in the box when it was opened.This is a small 14-inch monitor but some of the pictures on the online description made it look bigger by using a much smaller laptop.The HDMI to USB-C cable connects from the HDMI port on the laptop to the “HDMI” port on the display monitor (which is actually a USB-C port). The monitor is able to stretch across my 15-inch laptop screen but it probably won’t go much farther even though the description says it will fit 17-inch laptops. The way it attaches, it will only work with thin screens not thicker ones.The default setting is to duplicate the laptop monitor but you can change it on Windows desktop settings to extend the screens differently.You need either HDMI or USB-C on your laptop to for this to work, so it is not compatible with many older laptops.There is a foot at the back to prevent the laptop from tipping over from the extra weight of the monitor.

Decent monitor
It’s always handy to have a 2nd monitor. This one is similar to the size of a 13 inch laptop. It has wide bevels, which means the viewing real estate is actually 12 inches wide and 6-7/8 inches high.Three cables are provided:1. USB-C to USB-C, with one end being the “L” shaped type.2. USB-A to USB-C3. USB-C to HDMIThey all connect to the back of the monitor. The ports on the back of the monitor are labelled with black-on-black etching, which are very hard to read for my 60 year old eyes.Depending on what ports are available on your laptop/hub, you can get the video and power for the monitor with just a single USB-C cable. My laptop supports the video feed and power with the single USB-C to USB-C cable, but then I have no port leftover for the hub that allows me to connect my ethernet cable. (My hub’s USB C port doesn’t support the video feed).Alternatively, you can use the HDMI cable to get the video feed, and a 2nd cable for power. The instructions state that if the connection to your laptop doesn’t provide enough power (5V needed), you need to connect it to an AC outlet that’s at least 2 amps.This monitor has a cover that opens like a book. It doesn’t open past 180 degrees.The monitor can stand open by itself, or you can attach the monitor to your laptop as shown in the photos in the product listing.The monitor’s cover has 2 sections that extend open with spring action to clasp the back of your laptop cover. There is a top lip that goes on top of your own laptop’s lid to provide more stability to the set up. There’s an adjustable kickstand at the back that keeps everything balanced. The spring tension, kickstand, and top lip work well to lock the monitor in place quite solidly. The hinge that allows the monitor’s angle to be changed is good and strong.You cannot adjust the position of the monitor vertically, but I wish you could, so that the display of the monitor could be aligned exactly with the display of your laptop screen. However, this is not a big deal.If you choose not to attach the monitor to your laptop, you can stand it up by itself by opening it and propping it up with the provided kickstand. You have to have it open the full 180 degrees or it rocks forward, making for a less than ideal viewing angle. It’s too bad that the cover’s hinge does not allow the cover to fold all the way backward, to save space if you’re not attaching it to your laptop.I found that having the monitor attached to my laptop looks nice when the monitor is fully opened to 180 degrees. However, if you angle the monitor towards you, it gives the monitor an awkward tilt, in that the right side of the monitor becomes higher off the desk than the left side.Also, having the monitor attached makes it awkward to open and close your laptop.I ended up not having the monitor attached because of the awkwardness of opening and closing my laptop. I chose to have the monitor simply sitting beside my laptop. If you have one of those computer desks with an extra higher shelf for a monitor, you could put this monitor on that shelf, if the shelf was wide enough.The settings on the monitor (brightness, hue, sharpness, saturation, and much much more) are controlled with a wheel on top of the monitor. My son didn’t like the user interface of that wheel, but I preferred the wheel to the standard 3 buttons that most monitors have.Some observations about the display:The screen scale is 16:9.The IPS wide viewing angle is good.The refresh rate can be changed from 59.94 to 60 Hz.The colours are not true, despite fiddling with the settings.The text is not as sharp as on my laptop (Microsoft Surface Laptop 4).Some random thoughts:The back of the monitor and the cover are made of a material that looks like carbon fibre. It looks quite nice.The monitor folds up compactly. It is thicker and heavier than what I optimally would want, but that is only an issue if you’re travelling.The monitor came well packaged in an attractive, high quality box, suitable for gifting.A sturdy, gray, vinyl-type carrying case with handles is included. The carrying case has a front pocket with velcro closure for your phone.In summary, this is a decent monitor to add to your laptop. I’m happy with it and I would order it again. It would make a good gift, as well.

Good screen for traveling, could easily be better
Pros:- Good screen size.- Great build quality, metal screen is nice, plastic carbon fibre is decent, the whole thing feels solid.- Display: The screen is sharp and smooth at 1080p and 75hz.- Connectivity: The USB-C port makes this really easy to connect and use. But if your computer doesn’t support this, it comes with an HDMI and a USB-A cord, so that you can still power it solely from your computer.- Included speaker: unexpected, but a nice addition!Cons:- Display: Color accuracy is very lacking out of the box, it looked horrible compared to my 2015 Retina MacBook Pro. It can be adjusted to be a little better but it’s not as good as expected for the price. Cannot be used for photo editing.- Form factor: This can ONLY be used while mounted on a laptop screen, it won’t be able to stand up on its own. So if you want to use this as a secondary display for a desktop, a surface or any other tablet, don’t get this. It also doesn’t fold backwards, which would have allowed it to be laid down.- Design: it can be a little much. The lower bezel of the screen with the big white logo is an eyesore. My girlfriend compared this screen’s design to something out of the Spy kids movies, it can look a bit unprofessional and that makes it less likely that I’ll use this in a public space.Overall, this is a nice product, but for the price I feel like you could get a more practical solution. But if you’re looking for this specific form factor, this is a decent example and will work good.

Very Easy to Set up, With Bright Colourful Screen.
The product came in a nice carrying case. The instructions were quite limited however setting this up to work with a laptop with a USB-A or a USB-C and HDMI Port was quite simple.Keeping in mind that depending on how you set this up to your Laptop or Mobile Device, you may need an external Power Supply (Via USB-C) as your device might not have enough “Juice” to Power the Device.The colours are a little on the Vivid Side and the Screen gets plenty bright however it isn’t a bad picture at all more like a Vivid Tablet Screen. The detail is there and the shadows are decent without the colours being overtly “Cartoon-y”.The speakers IMO could be a little better as it’s not that much better than a decent Tablet however it does get Plenty loud and there’s limited distortion.This device is very useful to add more real estate to your desktop or perhaps use it to connect to a Mobile Device as all the necessary cables and converters are included to get up and running quite easily.With its bright colourful screen, ample connectivity Ports, this is a great value-minded way to add real estate to your screen. And depending on your existing setup could be considered portable as the screen itself isn’t too big or too heavy to carry around.

Extremely useful and functional
Admittedly I wasn’t sure this was going to be practical or useful in any way. If you work regularly on a laptop you kind of get used to navigating your workflow on a single screen. But you know you miss that extra screen when you’re away from your desk. This portable monitor is the best of both worlds – you get the functionality of a second screen for your laptop with the (relative) mobility that comes with working on a laptop away from your desk.I was testing this on my M1 MacBook Air. It was essentially plug-and-play. As soon as I plugged it in, it was recognized immediately and worked. I did have to play with the arrangement to get it just right, but that’s the case with any external monitor. The resolution is only 1080p, so there is a little bit of scaling, meaning that menus and text all appear larger than on the primary screen. This is actually fine with me, as I typically have a Word document open on a second screen, but if your workflow depends on more precision you may have to tweak some more settings than I did.The monitor sits securely, and when you extend the stand at the back it’s quite stable. It won’t stay up on its own, however. So the only way to make this work is setting up at a table or desk. The monitor is too heavy to float on its own.This monitor is primarily designed to work with newer notebooks that have USB-C ports. The monitor will power and receive signal from a single port, which is amazing. There is the option, however, to power it externally, so if you are using HDMI or an older laptop you can still make it work, but it won’t necessarily be as portable.My only gripe with this monitor is the brightness. It was noticeably darker than my MacBook, and I could see that being an issue in some conditions. However for my porposes, while the dimness was a little irritating, it was workable and I stopped noticing after a while.Overall, I like the way this monitor works, and I think it would benefit someone who works on the road a lot. It’s fairly portable, but does add a lot of weight to your backpack, so keep that in mind.

Only for full featured USB C or HDMI outputs
This monitor only works with devices that support the full featured USB C. If your device does not support full feature USB C, your only alternative is using the HDMI output plus an external USB power source capable of supporting 5V 2A. This monitor includes all the supporting cables to make the necessary connections. So far, I have used this monitor on my PC, Macbook and Android smartphone.The monitor is very vibrant and bright. The motion performance is pretty good while watching movies as I don’t see any noticeable ghosting. This monitor has some black bleed which is better than most LCD monitors, but not as good as O-LED.I find this monitor to be rather clunky to attach as it seems more suitable for a laptop that sits on a desk more than it gets transported. There are a few things to set up before using it, such as the top support bracket to unfold and the rear kick stand. While the monitor is clipped onto the laptop screen, there is no way to conveniently fold it for transportation; the entire set up needs to be taken down for transport. However, I can see how this monitor is a better option than using a standalone monitor because it does have some portability aspect. This monitor comes with a protective carrying case which has a pocket to store the cables as well.
